The TEACH and ACH Programs were three-year professional development programs for American History teachers of all grade levels. Funded by a Teaching American History Grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the program provided Erie County teachers with intensive intellectual seminars to broaden and deepen their knowledge of traditional American history. The program also included a wide array of professional resources and experiences aimed to enrich and improve student literacy in traditional American history. The TEACH and ACH Programs were broken into three academic sessions:

The program featured a three-week summer conference for each year of the grant. During the conferences participants immersed themselves in traditional American History. Two weeks of each Summer Conference was held at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, and the other week at a specified History On Location site (Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Washington, D.C.). The American constitutional order served as the focus for the conferences, with the Constitution serving as a lens through which to better understand the series of events, ideas, documents, and personalities that have shaped our nation.

Other aspects of the project included community lectures, academic year meetings, and a mentor program.
